Memories in the Dune Grass

Do you remember those days at the shore when the air was warm and a gentle breeze caused the dune grass to sway? This contemporary art glass sculpture, “Memories in the Dune Grass,” connects with those memories and emotions.

Arranging strips of glass on the narrow edge and heating those pieces to 1500 degrees, the artist created a thick slab of glass that represents the sand and the sky at the beach. The smooth glass is textured by raised dune grass elements and shaped into mirror image curved glass pieces. These pieces nest together in opposing curves. Because each curve is free standing, they can be displayed different ways.
